Marie Skovgaard & Senay Berhe – Afripedia


Marie Skovgaard

DENMARK


Marie holds a master in Film and Media studies and has directed and produced several independent theatre plays and experimental short films. She is a co-founder and lecturer of Doctivist; a NGO providing documentary filmtraining to developing world activists and has extensive knowledge and experience working in the MENA region.

She is currently working on a documentary series for National Danish Television and is in post production with her first feature documentary IF I CAN’T DANCE shot over 3,5 years in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. The film is pre-sold to more than ten countries, and the receiver of the first Brit Doc Circle award. Parallel Marie is working on an online transmedia project, KEEP YOUR VOICES LOUD - an interactive platform between creative activists in the Middle East and a global creative community.


Senay Berhe

SWEDEN


Senay was born in 1979. He is an award-winning director who crosses adeptly between documentaries, commercials, music videos and shorts. He is constantly renewing himself and sees no boundaries in his work. He recently exhibited his short ‘Blått Blod’ for Meron Mangasha at Liljevalchs (Stockholm, Sweden) and at Tensta konsthall (Stockholm, Sweden). He is currently traveling across the world with Stocktown Films, capturing the creative generation that are reshaping the image of Africa. LAB PROJECT:

Afripedia 360° VR Dance Battle



Stocktown Films & House of Real presents the world śfirst 360° VR Video Dance Battle experience, showcasing the best urban street dancers from Dakar, Senegal. An interactive online experience where the audiences are able to immerse themselves in the movement, the music and the city itself.

Behrouz Bigdeli




Behrouz Bigdeli was born in 1984 in Iran but grew up in Denmark. After directing several shorts and music videos, he graduated from the alternative film school Super16 in 2010. His graduation film, ‘To All My Friends’, went on to festivals around the world, winning several awards. Behrouz has recently been part of the Binger Film Lab Amsterdam, working on his first feature. Behrouz Bigdeli was originally paired up with Senay at the 2014/15 LAB, However for personal reasons Behrouz Bigdeli had to leave the project and was substituted by Marie , who is currently working on the project, within the LAB platform.
