“Hammersborg” by Birgitte Sigmundstad is ready for the world

Birgitte Sigmundstad

Norwegian filmmaker Birgitte Sigmundstad’s from the 2013/14 edition of CPH:LAB recently held the local premiere of her lab project “Hammersborg – Protecting the Bygone Future” in two different festivals in Norway: Nordic Docs in Fredrikstad in May and at The Norwegian Short film Festival in Grimstad in June 2016.

Based on a text by Kjetil A. Jakobsen, the film is shot in the government quarters in Oslo, which was partly destroyed by the terrorist attacks of July 22nd, 2011. It tells the story of these buildings – of their origin, of the artistic vision of architect Erling Viksjø who designed them, and of the uncertain future that awaits them.

Congratulations to Birgitte for creating a powerful, artistically vigourous and highly relevant cinematic take on an event that shook not only the Norwegian society, but all of us. The film is now ready for its official world premiere (TBC).
