ZELIJKA SUKOVÁ & GUSTAVO BECK – WINTER/MIRACLE
DOX:LAB FILM WINTER/MIRACLE WINS AT JIHLAVA INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL
YAY! We are so exited, elated and happy that the DOX:LAB film Winter/Miracle has won at the 17th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, announced yesterday evening at the closing ceremony of the festival. The film won in the category Best Central and Eastern European Documentary Film, and this is what was stated by the jury, as reason for winning: "Our Best Film award goes to a work that pushes the boundaries of genres to reach for new realms of cinematic experience, at once sensual and iconoclastic. This film defies all norms of production in order to speak with artistic freedom about a social freedom to come. We salute Zeljka Suková and Gustavo Beck for having struggled together to create Winter/Miracle, a film whose exuberant geography and more exuberant cinematography should invigorate all of us in Jihlava as spectators and as artists. Long live Jihlava." Congratulations from CPH:DOX and DOX:LAB to the filmmakers on this award, we are very happy for them. One of the aims of DOX:LAB is, exactly as the Jihlava jury describes it, to push and explore boundaries of genres, and to make space for new ways of thinking about film making, so new forms of film art are created. Congratulations once again!
