CPH:LAB art piece released in Copenhagen train station.

ESTHER JOHNSON & SONJA LILLEBÆK CHRISTENSEN – BY WHICH WE LIVE OUR LIVES

On Saturday 7th of November 2015, visual artists from the 2014 edition of CPH:LAB Sonja Lillebæk (DK) and Esther Johnson (UK), showcased their work-in-progress in a somewhat alternative setting.

In a busy Copenhagen train station, where thousands of commuters pass by on a daily basis, a quirky little gallery space offers a sneak peak into the world of art, to people who might not otherwise seek it out. This little gem is called Sydhavn St. and is owned by a collective of artists.

During the festival, the team will display a three-screen WIP version of their joint piece “By Which We Live Our Lives”, developed within the framework of CPH:LAB and supported by CPH:DOX in collaboration with DFI and Film London.

The performers appearing in the film were present on the opening night alongside a wonderful mix of art lovers and commuters that all together created an exciting synergy reflective of the topic of the piece: working class stories from Denmark and UK.
The final piece will be ready for its official world premiere on CPH:DOX 2017.
